
Andrews and Petrovek to Hold All-Star Briefing

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates will hold a briefing for news media on Saturday, January 18th at 6:00 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center to talk about the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. American Hockey League President & CEO Dave Andrews will join Pirates' CEO Brian Petrovek to discuss ticket sales, All-Star receptions, VIPs who will be attending and other activities linked to the event. All members of the media are invited to attend.
The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic is now less than three weeks away. The event begins with the official welcome reception presented by UBS PaineWebber followed by the Pepsi Skills Competition on Sunday, February 2nd at 8:00 p.m. The following night, forty-eight of the best young hockey players in the world will square off at the Civic Center for the AHL All-Star Game.
Andrews and Petrovek will also be announcing a special exhibit that will be held in conjunction with the event.
The news conference will be held in the Civic Center's multi-purpose room located off the Spring Street lobby between the team dressing rooms.
Andrews is in town to present Peter and Chris Ferraro with the All-Star jerseys they will wear as co-captains of the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars. This is the third All-Star appearance for both players, their second together. They both played together during the 1997 AHL All-Star Classic in Saint John, New Brunswick. The jersey presentation will occur at center ice prior to the opening face-off between the Pirates and the St. John's Maple Leafs at 7:05 p.m.
The Pirates will finish the weekend on Sunday against the Lowell Lock Monsters at 4:05 p.m. The Pirates are currently in the middle of an eight-game home stand. Tickets for the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic and for all Pirates' games are on sale at the Cumberland County Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
