Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City-----The Explorers lost their third straight game to the St. Paul Saints, losing here Saturday 7-3.

With the loss and a win by Gary-Southshore the Explorers fall five games back of the RailCats in the Central Division of the American Association. The bright spot for the Explorers Saturday was Wally Backman, Jr. who went five for five at the plate and drove in all three Sioux City runs, but it wasn't enough. The Saints came up with timely hits, including a three-run home run by Alex Garabedian in the fourth inning that gave St. Paul a 4-0 lead, a lead they never relinquished. Jason Jarvis pitched seven innings, but suffered the loss for the Explorers.

The Explorers drop to two games under the .500 mark and will try to salvage the final game of the four-game series with St. Paul Sunday evening at Lewis and Clark Park. Game time Sunday will be 6:05 and fans will have the opportunity to receive (1) Reserved Seat Ticket, (1) Hot Dog, (1) Small Pepsi Soft Drink for only $11! Reserve your seats now by stopping down to the stadium box office!
