Kansas City 9, Fargo-Moorhead 5
Designated hitter Kala Kaaihue hit home runs in each of the second and third innings to fuel Kansas City to a 9-5 win against Fargo-Moorhead at Newman Outdoor Field. Both teams were scoreless during the first inning, and the T-Bones struck first in the second when Kaaihue blasted a three-run homer. In the next frame, right fielder Ray Sadler drove in shortstop Jimmy Mojica for Kansas City's fourth run, and moments later Kaaihue hit his second three-run homer of the game to put the T-Bones ahead 7-0. Fargo-Moorhead scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and four more in the ninth, but it wasn't enough to top the T-Bones. Three different T-Bones had multiple hits in the game, and Kaaihue led with two hits, two runs and six RBI in four at-bats. Fargo-Moorhead recorded 13 total hits, and designated hitter Jesse Hoorelbeke had three hits and two RBI in five at-bats. Reid Santos, now 7-3 on the season, earned the win by allowing eight hits, one run and striking out four in seven innings pitched.
Sioux Falls 4, Winnipeg 1
Winnipeg scored its first and only run in the bottom of the first inning, and Sioux Falls catcher Henry Contreras hit a two-run homer in the fifth to lift the Pheasants past the Goldeyes 4-1. Each team got on the board in the first inning, when Sioux Falls center fielder Reggie Abercrombie and Winnipeg second baseman Price Kendall each scored a run. The score remained tied during the next three frames until Contreras hit a home run with two outs against him in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead against Winnipeg. The Pheasants added one more for good measure in the top of the sixth when Abercrombie hit a solo home run. The Pheasants registered seven total hits in the game, and Abercrombie led with two hits, two runs and one RBI in four at-bats. Center fielder Kody Kaiser was the only Goldeye to register more than one hit, and designated hitter Brian Myrow had the only RBI for Winnipeg. Ben Moore, now 9-2 on the season, earned the win by allowing three hits, one run and striking out eight in five innings pitched.
