Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (28-33) fell victim to two early home runs off the bat of Kala Ka'iahue as they lost 9-5 to the Kansas City T-Bones (27-34) on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.

Ka'aihue entered tonight's game 0-for-8 with five walks against the RedHawks. He wouldn't stay hitless for long as he hit three-run home runs over the left field fence in the second and third innings. Those home runs coupled with an RBI single by Ray Sadler in the third inning gave the T-Bones a 7-0 lead. Ka'aihuue almost had three home runs in his first three at bats as he lifted another out of the ballpark in the sixth inning, but it was foul.

Kole Zimmerman got the RedHawks offense going in the seventh inning. Zimmerman walked and went from first to third on a single by Mike Coles. Then, Jake Krause plated Zimmerman with a single through the infield in his season debut with the RedHawks.

The T-Bones added two insurance runs in the ninth inning on a pair of walks and a pair of singles given up by Kevin Light in his RedHawks debut.

Fargo-Moorhead scored four runs in the ninth inning on T-Bones reliever, Steven Stewart, hit two batters and allowed four base hits. Kansas City's early lead proved too large to overcome though as they won 9-5.

Joe Harris suffered the loss, his second of the year. Reid Santos pitched seven innings of one-run baseball for the T-Bones. Santos gave up eight hits, walked three, and struck out four en route to his seventh win of the year.

Josh Smith had a strong day in relief for the RedHawks, pitching four innings while only allowing one hit. Mike Coles was 3-for-4 and Jesse Hoorelbeke was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in.

The RedHawks are hosting the Lincoln SaltDogs for a three-game series July 19-21. Tuesday's game time is set for 7:02 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
