Mendez: Allowed 1 R on 3 H over 5.0 IP in 8/06 Win @ LWD with 5 K and 0 BB (3-2 'Dads)

THE LEADOFF: West Virginia rolled Hickory 9-0 Saturday night. Stephen Tarpley pitched eight shutout innings, limiting the Crawdads to three hits while striking out two, to key the Power in the win. West Virginia's offense was held in check until the fifth inning when Jordan Luplow hit a three-run home run. Luplow added a second long ball in a three-run eighth and the Power put three more on the board in the ninth. Michael Suchy and Elvis Escobar drove in two runs apiece. Kevin Newman and Jerrick Suiter joined Luplow, Suchy and Escobar with multi-hit games. Tarpley won his seventh straight decision and Brett Martin allowed the first three runs and took the loss.

ACES OVER TENS: Stephen Tarpley's win on Saturday was his tenth of the year, joining Austin Coley and tonight's starter, Yeudy Garcia, in double figures in victories. Prior to this season, a total of three pitchers had won ten games or more in any one season of Power baseball. Evan Anundsen won 12 in 2008 while Will Inman and Rudy Owens won ten apiece in 2006 and 2010, respectively.

WHOLE LOTTA GLOVE: The Power have committed 102 errors this season, second fewest in the league behind only the Crawdads. The club record for the fewest errors in a season is 146, set by the 2014 edition of the Power. The 2012 team had 188, the most in any single season in 2005. Over the previous 10 campaigns, the West Virginia Power have averaged 170 errors per year.

TWO-FER: On Saturday, Jordan Luplow became the first West Virginia player in over a year to hit two home runs in a single game. The last player to accomplish the feat was JaCoby Jones, who hit two out against Augusta at Appalachian Power Park in game one of a doubleheader on August 13, 2014.

YEUDY BEST: Yeudy Garcia was honored by Minor League Baseball on Monday as the best player in the South Atlantic League during July. The right-hander went 6-0 with a league-best 0.90 earned run average over six appearances, including five starts. Garcia is the first Power player to be tabbed by Minor League Baseball for an award since Tyler Glasnow was named best Class-A pitcher after the 2013 season.

BAKER'S DOZEN: Jordan Luplow's hitting streak has reached 13 straight and is the longest by a Power player this season. The third baseman is batting .396 since August 2 with 21 hits over 54 at bats. Luplow has also hit five home runs and driven in 13 during this 13-game run.

STREAK SHOW: Michael Suchy has hit safely in ten straight games for the first time in his professional career. The Power's right fielder has a .391 average during the streak. Francisco Diaz streak is at a season-best six in a row.

GREAT EIGHT: Stephen Tarpley pitched eight complete innings in the win Saturday. The last Power pitcher to throw eight or more innings in any game was Zack Von Rosenberg on September 3, 2012 during a nine-inning. complete game win over the Delmarva Shorebirds.

POWER POINTS: The Power are 29-27 on the road this season with 13 left away from home... Taylor Gushue's hitting streak was snapped with an 0-3 performance Saturday. The catcher raised his average 24 points during the seven game streak...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh outlasted the New York Mets 5-3 in 14 innings... Indianapolis held off Durham 3-2... Altoona rallied for a 5-3 win at Richmond... Bradenton tripped 3-2 to Charlotte... The Black Bears lost 7-5 at State College.
