Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC-- The Asheville Tourists were swept by the Augusta GreenJackets when Sunday afternoon's series finale ended with a 10-9 defeat. As was the story in the first two games of the series, the Tourists failed to cash in on a number of scoring opportunities. On four separate occasions, Asheville had a runner at third base with less than two outs that failed to score.

The GreenJackets took advantage of Asheville's misfortune. They plated two runs in the second inning and followed that up with a five-run third. Asheville managed a two-run Home Run by Nate Causey in the second, but trailed 7-2 after the GreenJackets big frame.

Despite the deficit, the Tourist chipped away with one in the third and two in the fourth. In the sixth inning, Asheville broke through. The Tourists plated four runs with help from two GreenJacket errors and out of nowhere the home team held a 9-7 lead.

Augusta did not falter. The visitors plated one in the seventh and two more in the eighth to vault back in front 10-9. The Tourists managed to put a runner at third base in the bottom of the ninth, but a strike-out ended the threat.

Shane Holescher finished 3-for-4 with two walks to lead Asheville's offensive attack. Ryan Castellani started and lasted only 2.1 innings. Chase Compton and T. Relaford each finished with three hits for Augusta who totaled 15 in the game.

Next up for Asheville is a three game set against the Kannapolis Intimidators. The Tourists will look to snap their four-game home losing streak on Monday night with the first pitch set for 7:05pm.
