Frebis Joins Intimidators from AZL Sox

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (August 16, 2015) - Left-handed pitcher Johnathan Frebis becomes the third member of the 2015 draft class to join the Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. He was promoted to the Intimidators today from the Rookie level Arizona League White Sox. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Yelmison Peralta has been transferred to the AZL White Sox.

Frebis, 22, has appeared in 11 games in relief for the AZL White Sox, going 3-0 with a 1.25 ERA (3 ER/21.2 IP) and 20 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .192 average. The White Sox selected him in the 33rd round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Middle Tennessee State University. Over four seasons with the Blue Raiders, Frebis went 19-21 with a 4.67 ERA in 56 games (55 starts). He is coming off his senior campaign in which he went 5-8 with a 4.87 ERA in 15 games (15 starts).

Peralta, 20, opened the season with Kannapolis and is 4-8 with a 6.04 ERA (64 ER/95.1 IP) in 21 games (20 starts) for the Intimidators. He is two starts removed from a career-long 7.0 innings of work, allowing two runs (one earned) to earn a win over Asheville on August 5. The White Sox signed the Dominican right-hander in May of 2012.

The Intimidators host the Suns (A, Nationals) in a doubleheader today at 3 p.m. at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System to wrap up a three-game series. The first 200 kids into today's game get to draw a set of baseball cards from a mystery box with a chance to pick a fully-autographed 2015 Intimidators team card set. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's game is also Kids Day presented by Cornerstone Church featuring post-game kids run the bases.
