THE LEAD OFF: The Power edged the Lexington Legends 8-7 on Monday to complete a four game series sweep at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia scored a run in the first on a Michael Suchy double, but the Legends responded with four runs in the top of the second inning and led 6-3 after three innings. Taylor Gushue homered in the fourth to cut the deficit to one and Jerrick Suiter scored from first on a Pablo Reyes bunt single and a throwing error to even the score in the sixth. With the game tied at seven in the seventh, Reyes hit a solo home run to left to push West Virginia ahead for good. Yeudy Garcia pitched five innings of one-hit relief for his eighth win of the season.

ONE YEAR LATER: West Virginia's win on Monday was the club's 55th this season, surpassing the 54 wins that the 2014 version of the club put together over the span of 135 games. After 94 games last year, the Power held a 32-62 record with a 2.57 average and a 4.29 staff ERA. The 2015 club is 15 games over .500 while batting .260 with a staff earned run average of 3.36.

CLEANING CREW: West Virginia's sweep of Lexington was the team's first since the final weekend of the 2013 season. The Power swept the Legends at Whitaker Bank Park from August 30 through September 2, 2013, clinching the Northern Division's second half crown the division's best overall record. West Virginia has, however, swept one five game series in that span (June 25-29 vs. Greensboro).

HOTTER THAN THE SUN: The Power hold the league's best record in July, having gone 13-6. West Virginia has a team average of .275 this month and a 2.58 ERA. Only Asheville (.283) has a better average this month, while no club has a better staff earned run average.

THE LOW DOWN: Jordan Luplow went 2-4 Monday with his team-best 23rd double to extend his current hitting streak to eight straight games. The third baseman is hitting .333 with three home runs and seven runs batted in during the last eight games. Luplow is one game shy of matching his best hitting streak this season, having hit safely in nine straight from May 20 through 29.

REYES ROLLS ON: Pablo Reyes collected four hits over four at bats and finished a triple shy of the cycle on Monday night. The second baseman went 8-15 in the Lexington Series and is batting .400 against the Legends this season. Reyes four-hit night was the fourth of his career (one each season since 2012).

GTL= GOING TO LAKEWOOD: West Virginia and Lakewood will meet a total of 14 times this season, including the three game series that the Power won 2-1 in the first half. Today's game marks the beginning on the last series between the two teams in New Jersey this season. West Virginia leads the all-time series 84-68 and has a 36-29 record at FirstEnergy Park since 2005.

PROMO UPDATE - JULY 30: West Virginia will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future with a theme night dedicated to the film and series. Fans can enjoy a postgame concert by Mighty McFly as part of the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance and the players will be wearing Back to the Future-themed jerseys to be auctioned off with all proceeds to benefit the research of Parkinson's Disease.

POWER POINTS: Tito Polo finished the Pan-Am Games with three hits over 17 at bats with one home run as the Colombian National Team finished 0-5. Polo was activated from the Temporary Inactive List on Monday and Jeff Roy was promoted to the Bradenton Marauders roster.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh fell 3-1 at Kansas City. The Royals scored three off Gerrit Cole in the eighth to secure the win...Indianapolis beat Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre 3-2 in a walk-off. Steve Lombardozzi singled in Willy Garcia in the home half of the ninth to complete the Indians rally... Altoona swept a twinbill with Erie, winning 18-7 in game one and 8-7 in the nightcap... Bradenton fell 7-4 at Palm Beach. Clay Holmes allowed three runs over three and a third pitched... The Black Bears beat Brooklyn 5-3 with four different players each driving in a run.
