LAST NIGHT:

West Virginia lost 8-2 to Lakewood in the first of a three game set. The BlueClaws hit two two-run home runs against Kyle McPherson in the first inning to take the early edge, then added runs in the second, third, sixth, and seventh innings. Evan Chambers provided the Power run support with a two run shot of this own in the third inning. McPherson took the loss while Colby Shreve gained the win. With the loss, West Virginia dropped to 1-9 in games played on Thursdays this season.

CUNNINGHAM CONTINUES TO RAKE: Jarek Cunningham's

third inning double extended his current hitting streak to 11 in a row, matching David Rubinstein for the longest by any Power player this year. The second baseman is batting .372 during this stretch, which dates back to May 31, and has seen his average climb from .243 to .269 with 16 hits in 43 at bats. He has also hit three home runs and driven in ten runs over his last 11 games.

OFFENSIVE OFFENSE:

The Power allowed season highs in runs and hits during Tuesday's loss. The game marked the first time that West Virginia surrendered doubled digits in runs, 11, this year, while the hit tally, 14, surpassed the previous high of 11, achieved three times against the Power pitching staff.

placed four players on the 2010 South Atlantic League's Northern Division All-Star team.

Ramon Cabrera, Aaron Baker, David Rubinstein, and

Nathan Baker were selected by the managers, staff, fans, and media to compete in the mid-season classic, to be played at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina on June 22. Aaron Baker will start at designated hitter for the North, which will be managed by Hickory's Bill Richardson. Hagerstown, Hickory, and Kannapolis each placed five representatives on the squad.

STREAKS STOPPED:

David Rubinstein had his 11 game hitting streak and 19 game one base streak stopped with an 0-4 performance on Thursday night. The All-Star reserve had hit safely in every game he played dating back to May 27. The right fielder hit .381 during this 11-game stretch, and surpassed the previous season-best eight game runs by several West Virginia players this season. Rubinstein's streak is tied for the fifth longest game-wise run this season.
