
Hagerstown Falls to Charleston 8-2

The Hagerstown Suns (30-32) fell to the Charleston RiverDogs (29-32) 8-2 Friday night at Municipal Stadium.
The RiverDogs took the lead 1-0 the top of the second with a single home run by Zoilo Almonte.
Charleston right fielder Zoilo Almonte kept swinging in the fourth with another home run to right field. After a walk by Kyle Higashioka, Deangelo Mack grounds into a double play scoring Higashioka.
With Steven Souza reaching on a walk the Suns quickly answered back in the fourth after both Justin Bloxom and Destin Hood hit doubles back to back scoring Souza and Bloxom. The Suns cut the RiverDogs lead 3-2.
After a Suns pitching change in the top of the eighth, the RiverDogs took the momentum. After two doubles by Luke Murton and Kyle Higashioka, Charleston scored. As Glenn Gibson replaced Shane Erb, Emerson Landoni singled to right giving Charleston the lead 6-2.
The RiverDogs kept going in the ninth putting up two more as Slade Heathcott stole home after getting on base with a single. Scoring JR Murphy was Zoilo Almonte hitting a single to left putting the score 8-2.
The Suns starting pitcher Paul Demny (4-2) took the loss of the evening going four and a third giving up three and three strikeouts.
The starting pitcher for the RiverDogs Kelvin Perez got the win pitching seven with two runs and four strikeouts.
The Hagerstown Suns return to action Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. against the RiverDogs for the final game of the three-game series.
