The West Virginia Power were shutout 5-0 by the Lakewood BlueClaws Friday night at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia managed only five base runners against two BlueClaw pitchers and were held without a run for the seventh time this season.

Starting pitchers Jason Erickson and Matt way matched zeros on the scoreboard over the first five innings, but Lakewood took the lead in the sixth against Maurice Bankston. Leandro Castro reached on a leadoff single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Sebastian Valle. The BlueClaws would add a run in the eighth against Bankston and plate three in the ninth against Mike Williams.

Bankston (3-4) took the loss, while Way (5-4) earned the win after tossing eight scoreless innings. West Virginia was held to four hits, including two by Jarek Cunningham to extend his current hitting streak to 12 straight. The four through nine hitters in the West Virginia batting order were a combined 0-17 with a walk.

The Power close this homestand against the BlueClaws on Saturday evening at 7:05 pm. Phillip Irwin gets the start for West Virginia, squaring off against Lakewood's Johnathan Pettibone. The Power travel to Hickory for a three-game series starting on Monday, and return to Appalachian Power Park again on June 17 against Hagerstown. West Virginia University's Bob Huggins will make a special appearance at the park on the 17.
