
Wranglers Nipped By Salmon Kings 2-1 In Marathon Shootout

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (16-16-4, 34 Points) were defeated by the Victoria Salmon Kings (27-10-4, 58 Points) 2-1 in a shootout in front of 5,108 fans on Friday night at the Orleans Arena. Victoria's Shawn Landolt ended a ten-round shootout, giving the Salmon Kings their 27th win on the season. Former Wrangler, Sean O'Connor tied the game for Victoria in the third period to force overtime. Left wing Kelly Czuy scored the Wranglers lone goal in the defeat. Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande stopped 29 shots in regulation and seven out of ten in the shootout loss. Victoria's Todd Ford stopped 31 shots and eight of ten for the shootout victory. The Wranglers will host Victoria at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena on Saturday.
Wranglers' left wing Kelly Czuy broke a scoreless tie in the second period with a power-play goal at 9:40. Las Vegas forward Mick Lawrence and defenseman Dan Spang set up Czuy's second goal of the season, which gave the Wranglers a 1-0 lead through two periods of play.
In the third period, Victoria left wing Sean O'Connor tied the game 1-1 with a power-play goal midway through the final period. O'Connor tipped Patrick Coulombe's shot from the point at 11:28 of the third, netting his 11th goal of the season. The former Wranglers goal forced overtime.
After a scoreless overtime, the teams would go to a shootout. Forward Shawn Landolt scored the game-winning goal in the tenth round of the shootout, giving Victoria the 2-1 win.
The Salmon Kings remain in town for games on Saturday, January 24th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, January 25th at 2:05 PM. Blue Man Group will perform at the game on Saturday the 24th. Las Vegas will host "Prison Uniform Night" on Friday, January 30th against Bakersfield.
