Patrick Wellar Returned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Patrick Wellar has been assigned by the Hershey Bears of the AHL to the Royals. In a separate transaction, the Royals released forward Shawn Snider.

Wellar began the season in Reading and picked up three assists and forty-five penalty minutes in eighteen games with the Royals before being loaned to Hershey in early December. Since that time, Wellar has played seventeen games with the Bears, registering two assists and thirty penalty minutes, while playing to a plus-5 (+5). Snider scored seven goals and assisted on fourteen others in thirty-eight games with Reading this year.

The Royals return to action tonight (Saturday, January 24 @ 7:05 pm) when the Wheeling Nailers visit the Sovereign Center. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Royals Radio Network Presented by Transmissions by Arbogast (True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading; and The Ticket WLAN 1390 am in Lancaster), as well as on the internet via webcast hosted by Sportsjuice.com, which can be accessed through the Royals website, www.royalshockey.com.
