Florida's Leggio Named Reebok ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Florida rookie David Leggio is the Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the period of Jan. 12-18.

The 24 year old was 3-0-0 with his league-leading fourth shutout, a goals-against average of 1.67 and a save percentage of .933 to help the Everblades extend their winning streak to nine games and enter the All-Star break with a league-leading 28 wins and 58 points.

After turning aside 19 of 21 shots in an 8-2 win at Charlotte on Jan. 13, the native of Buffalo, N.Y. stopped all 24 shots he faced in a 4-0 win at South Carolina on Jan. 15 and made 27 saves in a 4-3 win at Charlotte on Jan. 18. He was the winning goaltender for the American Conference in the All-Star Game on Wednesday stopping 10 of 11 shots in the second period.

Leggio, who is under contract to Albany of the American Hockey League, is 14-3-1 with a goals-against average of 2.22 and a save percentage of .921 in 19 games for the Everblades. He is tied for third in the league in wins and is fifth in goals-against average.

He played the last four years at Clarkson University where he was 59-29-12 with eight shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.30 and a save percentage of .922 in 103 games. He was 22-12-4 with five shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.20 and a save percentage of .920 in 2007-08 and 24-7-5 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of .930 in 2006-07 when he won the Ken Dryden Award as the top goaltender in the East Coast Athletic Conference.

Runners Up: Gerald Coleman, Trenton (3 gp, 3-0-0, 1.67 GAA, .929 save pct.) and Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, Alaska (2 gp, 2-0-0, 1.38 GAA, .949 save pct.).
