
Salmon Kings' Host Second Annual Pink In The Rink Night

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announce the Salmon Kings' second annual Pink in the Rink Night will be held on February 7th, 2009.
The first 3,000 fans to make a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation on game night will receive a limited edition scarf. The Salmon Kings will have 2,000 pink scarves and 1,000 grey scarves on hand.
The BC Cancer Foundation is an independent charitable organization that raises and stewards resources to support breakthrough research and compassionate care through the BC Cancer Foundation. The Victoria Salmon Kings have created a group promotion rate of $16 which will be in effect for all fans from January 29th - February 5th. The first $5 from each group promotion ticket sold will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation on behalf of the Salmon Kings. Last year the Salmon Kings raised nearly $2500 in ticket sales and in the end over $13,000 was donated to Breast Cancer Research. This year the Salmon Kings will be donating all profits from the 50/50 and Chuck-A-Puck to the BC Cancer Foundation. Players will show their support by dawning pink BC Cancer Foundation stickers on their helmets and the coaching staff will wear pink ties and pins during the game.
The first intermission will feature Island Savings Cold Cash Money Dash. There will be $2,000 in loonies scattered on the ice, while two participants have one minute to collect as many loonies as possible. Whatever they collect, they keep; Island Savings will also donate matching amounts to the BC Cancer Foundation, to support breast cancer research on the Island. Participants will be chosen on the radio station 107.3 KOOL FM beginning on February 1st.
"Island Savings is always looking for ways to give back to our communities," President and Chief Executive Officer of Island Savings Rod Dewar said. "We're proud to partner with local initiatives like Pink in the Rink, and to help support breast cancer research here on the Island."
Hillside Mall will be in attendance selling pink lanyards throughout the game, as well as T-shirts, hats, and wrist bands from the "Believe" collection.
Murphy's Wall-beds will be on site displaying their very own customized Salmon Kings wall-bed which will be raffled off starting on February 7th and ending March 22nd. Ticketing options are one ticket for $2, three tickets for $5, and seven tickets for $10. The bed will be displayed between Gate #2 and Gate #3. All proceeds go towards the BC Cancer Foundation.
The Sticky Wicket Bar at the Strathcona Hotel will also be donating $0.50 from every Pipers Pale Ale purchased on February 7th to the BC Cancer Foundation.

The Salmon Kings continue their three game Las Vegas road trip tonight with puck drop at 7:30 p.m. PST. The Kings return home on Tuesday night when they welcome the Stockton Thunder for a two-game set.
