
Wranglers Beat Steelheads, 4-1

Las Vegas, NV-The Las Vegas Wranglers (14-6-2) defeated the Idaho Steelheads (12-8-6) 4-1 in front of 4,708 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Greg Collins and Geoff Paukovich each had a goal and an assist in the win. Michael Ouzas stopped 34 of 35 Idaho shots for his tenth win of the season to improve to 10-3-1. John Scott Dickson scored the loan goal for Idaho. Jase Weslosky made 38 saves on 42 Wrangler shots to fall to 1-2-0.
The Wranglers got the scoring started at the 8:39 mark of the first period. Blair Riley scored his forth goal of the season to make it 1-0. Justin Bernhardt notched the only assist on the rookie's goal. Geoff Paukovich got on the score sheet at 10:27 of the first with his second goal of the year. Greg Collins got the lone assist on the goal. Las Vegas led 2-0 after one period of play.
The second period appeared quiet until Jaime Bates scored a power play goal at 18:12 of the middle frame to give the Wranglers a 3-0 lead. Barry Goers assisted on Bates' third goal of the campaign.
Period number three had the Steelheads looking for a comeback with a goal just 1:12 into the period off the stick of John Scott Dickson. Cody Purves assisted on the sixth goal of the year for Dickson to make it a 3-1 Wrangler lead. Las Vegas iced the game with a top-shelf wrist shot from Greg Collins that beat Weslosky to make it 4-1. Geoff Paukovich and Kevin Schaeffer earned assists on Collins' forth goal of the year.
The Wranglers return tomorrow with a matinee game against the same Idaho Steelheads. The puck will drop at 2:05pm at the Orleans Arena.
The Las Vegas Wranglersé are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
