December 19, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces got goals from five different players in a 5-2 win to complete a three-game sweep over the Stockton Thunder on Saturday night from Sullivan Arena. The Aces win was their fourth straight, and moved them into second place in the Western Conference, just one point off the top spot. Alaska raised their record to 15-9-1 on the year, and 4-1 on their current home stand. The Aces would like to wish all of their fans and corporate partners a very happy and safe holiday season. They will return to action on Dec. 28th and 29th vs. the Idaho Steelheads. The Aces jumped on the board early when Alex Dzielski slipped a shot from the blue line through traffic for his second straight game with a goal at 2:07. But Stockton answered on a power play with a Ryan Constant tally at 12:15. The first period ended 1-1 with Stockton outshooting Alaska 13-11.
The Aces reclaimed the lead in the second period on the power play when Maxime Tanguay set up Mark Isherwood for a one-timer from the high slot at 7:42. The Thunder tied the score at 2-2 when Craig Valette slammed home a shot from the low slot at 11:37. Alaska went up by a goal for a third time when Tanguay had a nifty set up to find a streaking Jerad Stewart cutting through the slot at 14:53. The Aces took a narrow 3-2 lead into the third period.
The Aces sealed the win in the third period with a pair of goals. Chris Langkow scored at 9:59 to give the Aces breathing room, and Russ Sinkewich added a shorthanded, empty net goal at 18:45 to complete the scoring.
Gerald Coleman (11-7-1) made 31 saves on 33 shots for the win. Bryan Pitton (7-3-1) suffered the loss, making 22 saves on 26 shots. The Aces power play went 1-3, while the Thunder went 1-5. The Aces were outshot by the Thunder 33-27 in the game.
The Aces will return following the Christmas break for games against Idaho on Dec. 28th and 29th. The Aces would like to wish all of their fans and sponsors a very happy and safe holiday season. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com.
