Kinston, N.C. - The Down East Wood Ducks and Salem Red Sox were suspended Thursday night due to rain, with the ballgame tied 1-1 in the middle of the fourth inning. The game will resume Friday as part of a double-header, beginning at 5 p.m. The suspended game will be finished in its entirety, followed by a seven-inning contest.

John King made a great start for the Wood Ducks and retired the first nine batters he faced before Jarren Duran lined an inside the park home run of the wall in center field to begin the fourth. It was Duran's second home run of the series and fourth of the year, and tied the game at 1-1.

Eric Jenkins opened the scoring in the third for the Woodies with a solo home run to right-center field, his third of the year, coming off of Jhonathan Diaz.

The regularly scheduled contest Friday will take place approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game. It will feature left-hander Sal Mendez (1-0, 2.77) for Down East, opposed by Salem right-hander Dylan Thompson. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for Mother Earth Friday at Grainger Stadium, with postgame fireworks following the action presented by WNCT.
