
'Wolves Slam Baysox in Game One 15-6

The SeaWolves belted out a season-high 15 runs on 17 hits as they took game one of Saturday's doubleheader against the Bowie Baysox 15-6 at Jerry Uht Park.
The 'Wolves struck first in the bottom of the second against Bowie starter Oliver Drake. Ben Guez doubled down the left field line with one out for the games first hit. A wild pitch moved Guez over to third and Francisco Martinez walked putting runners on the corners. Bryan Holaday sent a fly ball into center that was dropped by Xavier Avery. The error allowed Guez to score for a 1-0 lead. The 'Wolves then loaded the bases for Jamie Johnson following a Justin Henry walk. Johnson slapped a single to left-center for a 2-0 lead.
Deik Scram led off the third with his first triple of the season. Bryan Pounds doubled home Scram for a 3-0 lead. Ciriaco reached on a fielder's choice when Pounds was thrown out moving from second to third. Guez followed with his second double of the game, plating Ciriaco from first for a 4-0 Erie advantage. Guez scored on a Martinez groundout to make it 5-0.
In the fourth, the 'Wolves increased their lead. Scram and Pounds connected on back-to-back singles putting two on for Ciriaco. Ciraco doubled off the wall in left, scoring Scram for a 6-0 lead. With runners on second and third, Guez collected his second RBI of the day on a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Pounds for a 7-0 advantage. Erie added an eighth run on a Martinez RBI single.
Bowie got on the board in the top of the fifth against Erie starter Mark Sorensen. Ronnie Welty collected the Baysox first hit with a leadoff double. Welty advanced to third on a Pedro Florimon groundout and scored on a Steve Lerud sacrifice fly.
In the fifth, the SeaWolves continued to pour on the offense. Brandon Douglas singled with two outs to keep the inning alive. A Scram walk put a pair on for Pounds. Pounds singled home Douglas for a 9-0 lead. Ciriaco singled home Scram and Guez connected on his third double of the day for an 11-1 lead.
In the sixth, Greg Miclat led off and reached on an error. Jeff Fiorentino tripled home Miclat to make it 11-2. Fiorentino later scored on a groundout for Bowie's third run.
In the bottom of the sixth, Holaday and Henry both singled and Douglas walked, loading the bases for Scram. Scram hit a grand slam off of reliever Ryohei Tanaka for a 15-3 lead. The grand slam was the first for Erie on the season and the first home run of the year for Scram.
Bowie plated three in the seventh against reliever Ramon Garcia but the 'Wolves held on for a 15-6 win.
Sorensen (1-0) earned his first win of the year allowing three runs, one earned, on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work.
