Aeros Drop Suspended Game, 6-2

AKRON, OH - The Akron Aeros fell to the Reading Phillies 6-2 in the continuation of Friday night's suspended game at Canal Park.

The game resumed Saturday in the bottom of third inning with runners on first and second, one out, Chun Chen at the plate and the R-Phils leading 3-0.

Left-handed pitcher Matt Packer was the starter in game two of this three-game series and suffered the loss pitching three innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits, walking none and striking out two.

Right-handed pitcher Michael Cisco came in from the bullpen to get the win for Reading pitching 4.2 innings, giving up one earned run on one hit, walking three and striking out five.

Reading (9-5) added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning off Aeros reliever Paolo Espino. Carlos Rivero and Derrick Mitchell started the inning with back-to-back singles. Jeremy Slayden followed with an RBI single that scored Rivero. Fidel Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Mitchell and give the R-Phils a 5-0 lead.

Tim Fedroff hit a solo home run over the bullpen in right field in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 5-1.

The Aeros (8-8) added a run in the eighth inning when Kyle Bellows reached on an error by Reading shortstop Freddy Galvis that allowed Chun Chen to score and made it 5-2.

The R-Phils added a run in the top of the ninth inning and went on to the win.

Akron and Reading will play the regularly scheduled game three of this series today. This will be a seven-inning contest. Left-handed pitcher Kelvin De La Cruz will get the start for the Aeros. De La Cruz is 1-2 with a 1.80 ERA in 2011. The R-Phils will give the ball to right-hander J.C. Ramirez, who is 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA this season.
