Wolves Make A Stink For Charity

December 11, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

Chicago Wolves defenseman NATHAN OYSTRICK and left wing JORDAN LaVALLEE will attempt to set an unofficial record by remaining in full equipment for 27 hours following the team's game against the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena on Wed., Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. Fans can pledge money for each hour the players remain in their equipment, as well as visit the duo throughout the day of the challenge.

Pledges made for each hour OYSTRICK remains in full gear will go to Family Resource Center, a not-for-profit adoption organization, and the Anti-Cruelty Society, while funds contributed for each hour LaVALLEE toughs it out will benefit the Dan Snyder Memorial Fund and various Chicago-area charities.

"Raising money for the Family Resource Center is important to me because I was adopted when I was young, and now I'm in a position to contribute to helping other kids have the same great experience I had," said OYSTRICK. "I love animals too, so I'm glad I can include the Anti-Cruelty Society. This will smell really bad but it's helping out great organizations. I'm glad I have a partner in crime in Jordan, because I don't know how many other people are going to want to be around us after that many hours of wearing our equipment."

"It should be interesting. My game equipment isn't the nicest smelling stuff. I think I'm going to buy some plastic sheets for my bed so I can bear sleeping in it again after this is over," said LaVALLEE. "From what I've heard, this is exactly the kind of challenge Dan Snyder would have loved and wanted to be a part of, so I'm excited to be able to do this in his honor. It sounds fun and its for a great cause. We're going to smell really bad though, so fans, pledge a lot of money. We're going to need all the help we can get."

The public can get a whiff of the second-year pros on Thu., Dec. 20 at Gino's East, 8725 W. Higgins Road, from 12 to 2 p.m., and at Applebee's, 111 E. Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The pair will sign autographs and take photos with fans at each location.

The 24-year-old OYSTRICK was named to the American Hockey League All-Rookie Team and Second All-Star team after sharing third among AHL defensemen with 47 points in a team and league-high 80 outings with the Wolves during his professional debut last season. He has registered nine assists and 13 points in 24 outings this season.

LaVALLEE ranked second among Wolves rookies with 16 goals and third with 34 points in 79 outings last season. The 21-year-old assistant captain has recorded 18 points (8G, 10A) in 24 outings this season and shares the team lead with five power-play markers.
