Albany River Rats News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Andrew Ladd has been reassigned to Albany for a four-game conditioning stint by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Ladd, 21, suffered an ankle injury late in the third period of the Hurricanes' third game of the season on Oct. 6 at Washington. He missed 16 consecutive games before returning to Carolina's lineup on Nov. 16 against Atlanta. The third-year NHLer scored one goal and recorded two penalty minutes while averaging 15:31 of ice time in the Hurricanes' first three games of the season. In 12 games since returning to the lineup, the Maple Ridge, B.C., native has recorded one assist and seven penalty minutes while averaging 10:15 of ice time per game. Ladd (6'2", 201 lbs.) was drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, and has scored 18 goals, earned 16 assists (34 points) and accumulated 59 penalty minutes in 108 regular-season games with Carolina since his NHL debut on Nov. 20, 2005.
"This is an important conditioning period for Andrew," said Hurricanes President and General Manager Jim Rutherford. "Since returning from his injury, he hasn't seen enough ice time to get back to where he was at the beginning of the season."
In Ladd's first NHL season he played in 29 regular season games (11 points) and 17 playoff games (5 points) helping the Hurricanes to become the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions. Ladd will start his conditioning assignment with the River Rats on Wednesday as Albany travels to Bridgeport for a 7:30 pm face off with the Sound Tigers at The Arena at Harbor Yard.
The River Rats have four games on their schedule for this week, beginning on Wednesday, December 12 at Bridgeport. Friday, December 14th Albany will play in Lowell for a 7:05 pm face off. Saturday the River Rats host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 5:00 pm at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Sunday Albany is back in Bridgeport for a 4:00 pm game at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
Partial season tickets and flex ticket packages for the 2007-08 River Rats season are on sale now. For more information please contact the Albany River Rats at (518) 487-2244 or online at www.albanyriverrats.com.
