Peoria Rivermen News Release
The Peoria Rivermen dominated the Hamilton Bulldogs from start to finish in a 5-0 whitewashing of the defending Calder Cup Champions on Tuesday night at Carver Arena.
Mike Glumac and Jean-Guy Trudel teamed up for Peoria's first goal with a shorthanded marker at 6:01 of the opening frame. Glumac blocked a shot attempt at the Peoria line, springing himself along with Trudel, who carried the puck down the left wing side before firing a low shot stopped by Yann Danis. The rebound came right to a streaking Glumac for his fifth goal of the year.
Peoria extended its lead to 2-0 at 15:41 when Nikolay Lemtyugov tipped a puck off his skate that deflected past Danis. Martin Kariya and Chris Porter assisted on the tally to wrap up the scoring in the first period.
The Rivermen would deliver three more goals in the second period, ending the night for Danis after just 31:06 and 16 shots against.
Micki DuPont took a cross-crease pass from Nicholas Drazenovic at 4:53 to make it a 3-0 game, beating Danis glove side with a quick snap shot.
Charles Linglet followed with a pair from Kariya, scoring the first by splitting the defense and taking a pass in stride at the Hamilton blue line before firing it over the blocker on Danis to make it 4-0. Linglet completed the scoring in the game by one-timing a slap shot from the slot past Danis, beating him on the glove side at 11:06 for his eighth of the year.
Cedric Dejardins stepped in for Danis, stopping all 13 shots against in relief.
From there, Chris Beckford-Tseu and the Rivermen defense clamped down, earning the goaltender not only the win but his first shutout of the year with 25 saves.
Each team finished the game 0-for-6 on the power play.
Peoria will now face off with the Chicago Wolves on Friday and the Rochester Americans on Saturday. Friday night is St. Louis Blues Night with the team wearing special white Blues jerseys to be auctioned following the game to benefit the Children's Hospital of Illinois; Drake Bell from Nickelodeon's Drake and Josh will make a personal appearance and sign autographs for fans from 6 - 8:30; and 2,500 Kiss-A-Pig cups will be given away on Illinois Pork Producers Night!
