Chicago Wolves News Release
HAMILTON, Ont.---The Chicago Wolves relinquished a 1-0 lead at the end of the second period and could not pot another goal as they lost to the Hamilton Bulldogs, 3-1, at Copps Coliseum Wednesday night.
After a scoreless first period, Chicago (18-16-0-2) broke open the scoring with a power-play tally at 1:54 of the second. Center Jason Krog one-timed a shot from the slot, and Johnny Pohl tipped home the puck from inside the crease to give the Wolves the first goal of the game.
Hamilton (24-9-2-3) tied it up with a power-play tally of their own with 1:53 to play in the second period. Standing beside the goal, center David Desharnais sent a backhanded pass to defenseman P.K. Subban, who was waiting in the slot. Subban was then able to slide it past Wolves netminder Peter Mannino, stick side.
Mannino (8-3-0) turned aside 32 shots for Chicago.
Hamilton took the lead at 5:28 of the third period. Mannino came out of the crease to poke-check a shot away from the net, but the puck slid through his five-hole and gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.
Bulldogs goaltender Cedrick Desjardins (15-5-1) posted 25 saves in the winning effort.
Hamilton center Ryan White rounded out the scoring with an empty net tally with four seconds left to play.
