Falcons Come Up Short In Manchester
January 6, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Springfield Falcons News Release
January 6, 2010 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. The Falcons opened the scoring when Rob Hisey once again continued his hot play and scored his fourth goal in just his fifth game with the Falcons. Hisey's goal was assisted by Bill Thomas and Charles Linglet.
The Falcons penalty killing units did a good job in the opening 20 minutes killing off a five-on-three disadvantage midway through the frame. The shots were even at 9-9 in the first period.
In the second period, Manchester tied the score at 1-1 when Marc-Andre Cliche converted on the power play at 10:24. The Falcons outshot the Monarchs 19-17 through 40 minutes of play.
Cliche added his second goal of the game for the Monarchs just 1:11 into the third period and that marker held up to be the eventual game-winning goal in the contest. Springfield was outshot 11-4 in the final period.
GAME NOTES
Once again, the Falcons welcomed a new player into their lineup as defenseman Kevin McLeod made his Falcons/AHL debut this evening. McLeod was signed to a PTO on Tuesday and has spent the previous three seasons in Texas of the Central Hockey League.
There were a pair of fights in the game as Kelly Czuy and Richard Clune dropped the gloves, followed by Kip Brennan and Kevin Westgarth earning fighting majors.
