Ben Bishop Named WPC Player Of The Month

PEORIA, Ill. (January 6, 2010) - The Peoria Rivermen announced today that goaltender Ben Bishop has been named the World Painting Company Player of the Month for December. During the final month of 2009, Bishop was 7-2-0 and helped the Rivermen to their best month of the season to date. Peoria earned 18 points and was 9-4-0 in December.

A native of St. Louis, Bishop compiled a goal-against average of just 2.09 over his nine starts in December. His 0.916 save percentage over the month raised his overall mark from 0.891 to 0.902. His won five consecutive games from Dec. 2 to Dec. 15, and six overall dating back to Nov. 20. He allowed just one goal in four of his nine starts. He won both of the team's shootouts in December and is now 4-2 on the year in the tie-breaker.
