'Wolves Drop Game Two to Mets in Extras

The 'Wolves dropped game two to the Mets in extra innings by a final of 3-2.

The 'Wolves struck first in the top of the first against Mets starter Collin McHugh. Jamie Johnson led off with a single and moved into scoring position on an error. Johnson came home to score on a one-out fielder's choice from Rawley Bishop for a 1-0 lead.

Binghamton responded in the bottom of the first against spot starter Jared Gayhart. Jordanny Valdespin led off and was hit by a pitch, stole second and moved to third on an error. Salomon Manriquez singled home Valdespin with one out tying the game at 1-1.

Binghamton took the lead in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Jon Malo and Manriquez connected on back-to-back singles and Brahiam Maldonado walked loading the bases. Allen Dykstra drew a bases loaded walk to make it 2-1 Mets.

Erie tied the game in the fifth. With one out, Audy Ciriaco connected on his second triple of the season down the line in right. Bryan Holaday brought home Ciriaco on what was rule an error on a high bouncer to third, tying the game at 2-2.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth. Reliever Austin Wood got the final two outs of the seventh with the bases loaded but could not replicate those results in the eighth. Dykstra led off with a single and Eric Campbell was hit by a pitch putting two on. Carlos Guzman sacrificed the runners into scoring position and Raul Reyes won the game with a single to right.

Wood (2-3) took the loss allowing a run on two hits in an inning of work with one strikeout. It was the first run allowed by the Erie reliever since May 1, breaking a streak of nine consecutive scoreless outings.

The 'Wolves and Mets play the third game of the four-game series on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium.6:35 First Pitch. RHP Mark Sorensen (4-2, 4.50 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Jeurys Familia (0-1, 2.25 ERA).
