Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Senators opened a three-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night with a 4-2 win, their ninth straight win. They finish May with an 18-10 record and move 29-20 on the season. New Hampshire has their seven-game win streak snapped and are 34-17.

Brad Peacock started for the Senators against RH Henderson Alvarez, and they both lived up to the pre-game billing. Peacock pitched into the 8th inning for the Senators and allowed just two hits. He walked three for the first time this season, including Ricardo Nanita leading off the 8th, before giving way to Zech Zinicola. Prior to the lead-off walk in the 8th, Peacock had retired 12 straight batters. He struck out seven in the game.

Alvarez was nearly as good, going 6 innings and allowing four hits, three of them in the 5th, while striking out five and walking one. Neither starting pitcher figured in the outcome.

Archie Gilbert drove in Bill Rhinehart in the 5th inning, giving the Sens a 1-0 lead. It stayed that way until the 8th when Nanita scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Harrisburg scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the 8th thanks to two errors, two walks and a hit batter. Derek Norris capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly driving in Chris Rahl. Gilbert was the only player on either team with two hits.

Hassan Pena gave up a two-out home run in the ninth, but that was it as he picked up his fifth save on the season.

Game two of the series is Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Erik Arnesen on the mound for the Senators against RH Chad Beck for the Fisher Cats. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone.
