Chicago Wolves Chairman of the Board Don Levin will be recognized by the Boy Scouts of America's Northwest Suburban Council as its 2005 Honoree at the Distinguished Citizens Banquet at the Stonegate Conference Center on Thu., Oct. 6, at 12 p.m.

Wolves Senior Executive Vice President Wayne Messmer will emcee the event and Chief Warrant Officer Ron Young - a helicopter pilot and prisoner of war from Operation Iraqi Freedom - will serve as the keynote speaker.

"As an owner (of the Wolves), Don is a community leader and major supporter of our events," said Scout Executive Steve Taylor. "We can point him out to our scouts and show a person that they should try and emulate when they grow up. Don is the ultimate community servant."

Levin's company D.R.L. Enterprises - the parent company of the Wolves - has made significant donations to the Scouts in Illinois, North Carolina and Tennessee. The Wolves organization has organized a scout night for the Northwest Suburban Council at a home game for the last eight seasons.

"I was a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout when I was a kid, so this is very personal," Levin said. "It's very important to support our scouts in this day and age. It's tremendous praise to be honored by the council. It's beyond what I ever imagined."

The Northwest Suburban Council has 15,000 active youth members. Each year at the fundraising banquet, it honors a member of the community for his or her support. Past honorees include United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
