Admirals cut 10, get four from Nashville

Nashville Predators Executive Vice-President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the team has reassigned forwards Randy Robitaille, Jerred Smithson, and Scottie Upshall and defenseman Greg Zanon to the Milwaukee Admirals. In addition, Admirals Executive Vice-President/General Manager Phil Wittliff announced today that the team had released ten players from the team's training camp.

Robitaille has collected 147 points (51g-96a) in 318 career NHL games with Nashville, Boston, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, the New York Islanders, and Atlanta. The Ottawa, ONT native picked up 33 points (10g-23a) in just 19 games in a short stint with Milwaukee in 2000-01.

Smithson, Zanon and Upshall all suited up for the Admirals last season. Smithson played in all 80 games for the Admirals last season, picking up 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points and 92 PIMs. Upshall posted 46 points (19g-27a) and 108 penalty minutes while Zanon, who also played in all 80 contests, notched two goals and 17 assists to go along with 59 PIMs. Both Upshall and Zanon also were members of the Admirals 2004 Calder Cup Championship Team.

Players released by the Admirals include Phil Aucoin, Matt Coughlin, Brett DeCecco, P.J. Martin, Preston Mizzi, Tom Reimann, Chris Robertson, Yannick Tifu, Kevin Ulanski, and Chad Wollard.

The Admirals begin the 2005-06 regular season this Saturday, Oct. 8 at Grand Rapids. The home opener will take place on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center versus the Manitoba Moose. Fans can purchase tickets by calling (414) 276-4545 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
