Gavin Morgan signs with Peoria

Peoria, IL (October 3, 2005) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that center Gavin Morgan has signed an American Hockey League (AHL) contract with the club.

Morgan, 29, spent last season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL. In 76 games for the club, he scored 10 goals and 23 assists, while also racking up 147 minutes in penalties.

Measuring 5-11 and 190 pounds, Morgan has played the majority of his professional hockey career in the AHL. He has skated in a total of 292 AHL regular-season games over the course of the last four seasons with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Hershey Bears, and Utah Grizzlies. Morgan's career AHL statistics include 43 goals, 94 assists, 137 points, and 792 penalty minutes.

Morgan, a native of the Ontario town of Scarborough, was not selected in the National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, but he has played in the NHL. During the 2003-04 season, he appeared in six games with the Dallas Stars and registered 21 penalty minutes.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and will celebrate its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
