
Flames send six to Omaha

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate, have assigned forwards Brantt Myhres, Lynn Loyns and Eric Nystrom, defensemen Mark Giordano and Richie Regehr and goalie Brent Krahn to Omaha. The Knights currently have 28 players on their roster including three goalies, eight defensemen and 17 forwards.
Myhres skated with Lowell during the 2004-05 season, appearing in 29 games. In 154 career NHL games, the former 97th overall selection by Tampa Bay in the 1992 NHL Entry has recorded eight points and 687 PIM. Overall, he has played in 133 career AHL games and 359 pro games total. He appeared in one preseason game with the Flames.
Loyns played in 77 games with Lowell during the 2004-05 season, scoring seven goals and eight assists with 42 penalty minutes. In 33 NHL career games between the Flames and the San Jose Sharks, Loyns has posted five points (3 goals, 2 assists) and 21 penalty minutes. The Flames acquired the Calgary resident from San Jose on January 9, 2004 in exchange for a fifth round choice in the 2004 Entry Draft. He appeared in four preseason games with Calgary.
Nystrom was the captain of the University of Michigan, posting 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists during the 2004-05 season. In 160 career games in the CCHA with Michigan, the son of former NHL great Bob Nystrom notched 111 points (56 goals, 55 assists) and 149 PIM. Nystrom was the first round selection, 10th overall, by the Flames in the 2002 Entry Draft. The rookie played in seven preseason games for the Flames, scoring a goal and adding two assists.
Giordano made his professional debut last season, scoring six goals and 16 points in 66 games with the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL). His first pro goal was the game winner against Worcester on December 18, 2004. He came to Lowell from Owen Sound of the OHL where he had 97 points in 133 career games. He skated in six preseason games with the Flames, scoring a goal and two assists.
Regehr is the younger brother of Flames' defenseman Robyn. In his professional debut last season, he had nine goals and 25 points in 64 games for the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL). As a rookie, the native of Rosthern, Saskatchewan also posted a plus-20 rating. During the Calder Cup Playoffs, he finished in the top ten in team scoring with a goal and seven points in eleven games. Prior to turning pro, Regehr played 307 games with Portland and Kelowna of the WHL. In 2002-2003, he set career highs for goals (16), assists (45) and points (61) in 67 games for Portland. Regehr had an assist in four preseason NHL games.
Krahn played in 35 games with the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) last season, posting a record of 20-11-2 with six shut-outs and a 2.49 GAA. He tied with teammate Cam Ward for the Lowell franchise record for shutouts in a season. The Flames selected the former Calgary Hitmen player in the first round, ninth overall in the 2000 Entry Draft. Krahn saw action in five preseason games, a team high. He posted a record of 1-1-1, a 2.40 goal-against average and a .925 save percentage. He earned a 3-0 win over Edmonton on September 23rd.
