
Hurricanes Acquire Craig Adams for Bruno St. Jacques

RALEIGH, NC - Jason Karmanos, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired right wing Craig Adams from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for defenseman Bruno St. Jacques. Adams will report to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League, the Hurricanes' top minor-league affiliate.
"Craig adds valuable depth and experience to our organization," said Karmanos. "He is a high-energy player whose dedication and work ethic set a good example for his teammates."
Adams, 28, was drafted by the Hurricanes organization in the ninth round, 223rd overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He turned professional in 1999 after completing his collegiate career at Harvard and has played in 238 NHL games with Carolina, notching 14 goals, 23 assists (37 points) and accumulating 198 penalty minutes. In 2004-05, Adams (6'0", 202 lbs.) played in 30 regular-season games with the Milan Vipers of the Italian league and earned 29 points (15g, 14a). Adams added four goals and seven assists (11 points) in Milan's 15 postseason contests. The Seria, Brunei, native signed a one-year, two-way contract with Anaheim on Aug. 25 that will pay him $465,000 at the NHL level and $75,000 at the AHL level.
