Wolf Pack Sign Defenseman Brad Brown To PTO

HARTFORD: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack have signed veteran defenseman Brad Brown to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

A 12th-year pro and a veteran of 330 career NHL games, Brown had been playing for the ECHL's Florida Everblades. In 26 games with the Everblades, the 32-year-old, 6-3, 221-pound blueliner had tallied two goals and added an assist for three points, while posting 68 minutes in penalties. Brown skated the past two seasons with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, logging 36 games of action last season and registering three assists and 62 PIM.

Brown, originally a first-round pick (18th overall) by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1994 NHL Draft, spent time in the NHL with the Canadiens, the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres. The Baie Verte, Newfoundland native totaled two goals and 27 assists for 29 points, along with 747 penalty minutes, in 330 career NHL appearances. Brown spent the 2000-01 season as a member of the Wolf Pack's parent club, the Rangers, and notched a goal and three assists for four points, plus 107 PIM, in 48 games.

In 240 career AHL games with Fredericton and Toronto, Brown chalked up six goals and 23 assists for 29 points, in addition to 968 minutes in penalties.

The Wolf Pack return to action on home ice this Friday night, March 14th (7:00 faceoff), taking on the San Antonio Rampage on Guida's Family Value Night at the XL Center. Then on Saturday night the Manchester Monarchs come to town on Scout Night, also a 7:00 game.
