Moose release Cole from PTO

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks, announced they released defenceman Phil Cole from his pro tryout contract. He will now re-join the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL.

Cole, 25, did not appear in any games after signing his pro tryout contract with the Moose on March 8/08. In 54 games this season with the Thunder, the Winnipeg, MB native has collected six assists and 116 penalty minutes. Cole did play in one game last season with the Moose and has appeared in 72 career games in the AHL with Manitoba, Philadelphia, and Albany. He has scored one goal and three assists for four points and 122 penalty minutes in that span. He has also played in 260 career ECHL games with Stockton, Augusta, Victoria, and Cincinnati where he's scored 10 goals and 39 assists for 49 points and 566 penalty minutes.

Cole was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round, 125th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
