Marlies Sign C Max Taylor

Mike Penny, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed centre Max Taylor to an AHL standard players contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Taylor, 24, has played in three games this season for the Marlies, registering one point (goal) and 17 penalty minutes. Taylor scored his first career AHL goal on Friday, March 7 at Syracuse in his first career AHL game.

Taylor appeared in 57 games this season for the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL, registering 45 points (25 goals, 20 assists). He has registered 47 penalty minutes and a plus-22 rating for the Wildcatters this season. The Ottawa, Ontario native recorded two hat tricks this season for Texas, including a four-point (three goals, one assist) evening on February 8 against the Columbia Inferno. Since January 1, 2008, Taylor has recorded 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 26 games.

Prior to playing for the Texas Wildcatters, the 5'10, 185-pound centre played 145 games for the St. Lawrence University Saints. Taylor recorded 79 points (29 goals, 50 assists) for the Saints from 2003-07.

The Marlies travel to Grand Rapids on Wednesday night as they take on the Griffins - AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings - with puck drop at 7:00 p.m. The Marlies have a pair of games, with Ben Ondrus bobblehead night, presented by Ricoh, taking place this Saturday when the Marlies host their QEW rival, Hamilton Bulldogs - AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens - at Ricoh Coliseum at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday at 4:00 p.m. the Marlies play the Griffins for the second time this week.
