Norfolk Admirals News Release
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Marc Denis made 38 saves, but his Norfolk Admirals (23-35-2-5) were shut out by Scott Munroe's 22 saves in a 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phantoms (39-21-2-3) on Tuesday night at the Wachovia Spectrum.
Jared Ross put the Phantoms on the board late in the opening frame when his shot from the left wing half wall knuckled past Admirals goalie Marc Denis at 19:25.
The Philadelphia lead doubled early in the second stanza. Martin Grenier sent a centering pass from the right corner that Pete Zingoni redirected past Munroe at 3:25.
Kyle Greentree closed out scoring by one-timing an Oskars Bartulis pass from the left corner past Denis at 16:24 of the final frame.
Marc Denis (41 shots, 38 saves) was saddled with the loss. Scott Munroe (22 shots, 22 saves) earned the shutout victory.
Norfolk was 0-5 on the power play. Philadelphia was 0-4.
After a quick trip to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tomorrow night to face off against the Penguins at 7:05 p.m., the Admirals will return to Scope for an eight-game homestand kicking off next Friday and Saturday against the Portland Pirates. Friday night, the first 2,500 fans will receive an Admirals pennant courtesy of Good Neighbor Pharmacy. Saturday night, the first 1,500 fans will receive an Admirals St. Patty's Day puck courtesy of Liberty Tax Service upon exiting the building.
