The Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 7-2 before 3,650 fans at the Hartford Civic Center on Wednesday morning. The Wolf Pack, in second place in the Atlantic Division, improved to 42-26-3-0 and the Sound Tigers, clinging to the East Division's fourth and final playoff spot, dropped to 33-31-1-5 in a rare midweek matinee.

Alex Bourret had two goals and an assist and Corey Potter and Lauri Korpikoski both had a goal and two assists to lead the Wolf Pack. Potter had a hand in all three of Hartford's first period goals as the home team jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the first period of play. Jeff Tambellini had both of Bridgeport's goals (giving him 30 tallies this season) and recent call-up Sergei Ogorodnikov had an assist for the Sound Tigers.

Korpikoski opened the scoring on a wraparound just 2:03 into the game, Greg Moore buried a rebound of Lessard's shot at the 9:08 mark and Potter scored on a slap shot during a five-on-three power play at 17:46 for the Wolf Pack.

Bourret gave the Wolf Pack a 4-0 lead 55 seconds into the second period and, after Tambellini got the Sound Tigers on the board at 7:34, added his second of the game and 14th of the season at 12:04 of the middle period for a 5-1 lead. Francis Lessard made it 6-1 at 15:48 of the second stanza. Tambellini scored his second goal of the day 1:39 into the third and Ororodnikov earned an assist on the goal in his first action since a call-up from ECHL affiliate Pensacola. Nigel Dawes made it 7-2 Hartford at the 15:59 mark.

The Wolf Pack outshot the Sound Tigers 43-25. Bridgeport starting goaltender Wade Dubielewicz made 24 saves on 30 shots before being pulled for Billy Thompson who stopped 12 of 13 shots. Dubielewicz also played in the game for the parent club New York Islanders the night before. Hartford's starting goalie, Al Montoya, kicked aside 18 of 19 shots and backup Chris Holt worked the final period, stopping five of six shots.

The Wolf Pack went 3-for-7 on the power play and Bridgeport was 1-for-5 on the man advantage.
