Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Martin St. Pierre scored a goal and added two assists to power the Norfolk Admirals over the Philadelphia Phantoms 6-2 on Wednesday night at Norfolk Scope. The Admirals used a 4-for-7 night on the power play to erase a 2-1 second period deficit and race to the win.

Norfolk jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a power play tally 3:01 into the game. David Bolland had the puck in the corner and entered for Troy Brouwer, who in turn one-timed it past Scott Munroe for the advantage.

But the Phantoms equalized less than two minutes later when Mark Cullen, stationed on the end boards, found Kane in front. The one-timer beat Corey Crawford high, and tied the game at 1-1 at the 4:46 mark. The assist was Cullen's 13th of the month and 20th point overall in 14 games played.

Philadelphia jumped out to a 2-1 lead with a power play tally at 8:59 of the second period. Kane was in the left side corner and found Slaney pinching down the slot. Slaney ripped a one-timer past Crawford for the one-goal advantage.

The Ads tied it at 11:25, once again on the power play. Brouwer threw a puck from the right circle across the slot to St. Pierre, who let loose on another one-timer that beat Munroe's stacked and sliding pads to make it 2-2.

Norfolk then took a 3-2 lead with 3:30 left in the period. St. Pierre fired a slapshot from the top of the right circle which Munroe stopped, but the rebound went to Versteeg in the slot. He patiently picked his spot and then snapped it past Munroe's outstretched glove for the one-goal advantage at the second intermission.

The lead became 4-2 at 6:16 of the third period. Craig MacDonald took a shot from the left circle that went in and out of Munroe's glove and fell to the feet of Jake Dowell, who jammed it home.

At the 15:29 mark, Dustin Byfuglien tossed a wrist shot on net from the blue line that bounced past Phantoms defenseman in front and then past Munroe to make it 6-2. Mike Jarmuth finished out the scoring with a 5-on-3 goal from the right circle with 50 seconds remaining.

Munroe absorbed the loss with 31 saves on 37 Norfolk chances, while Crawford took the win with 18 saves on 20 Philadelphia chances. The Phantoms remain eight points out of a playoff spot in the East Division. Bridgeport and Albany are now tied at 72 points apiece after Bridgeport lost and Albany won on Wednesday, while the Phantoms have 64 points.

Philadelphia returns home to take on the Admirals at the Wachovia Spectrum on Friday night at 7:05. The first 4,000 fans through the doors on Friday will receive an R.J. Umberger bobblehead courtesy of Comcast. Individual tickets for all Phantoms games, including $8 tickets for children 14 and under anywhere in the building, are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
