Capitals sign Joudrey to entry-level contract

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Capitals have signed forward Andrew Joudrey to a two-year entry-level contract beginning next season, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. Joudrey (pronounced JOE-dree) will sign an amateur tryout agreement with the Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears, for the remainder of the season.

Joudrey, 22, was an eighth-round selection of the Capitals, 249th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft who recently completed his senior season at Wisconsin in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). A 5'11", 187-pound native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Joudrey was the Badgers' captain this season and an alternate captain on their 2006 NCAA championship team. Joudrey led Wisconsin in scoring this season with career highs in goals (nine), assists (20) and points (29) in 40 games. He finished his four-year career with 31 goals and 62 assists (93 points) in 160 games.
