Defenseman Murray Signed to Amateur Try-Out Contract

Peoria, IL (March 28, 2007) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that defenseman Chris Murray, who just finished his fourth year at NCAA Division I University of New Hampshire (UNH), has signed an amateur try-out contract.

Murray, 22, who was named the assistant captain during his senior season, skating in 39 games for UNH and recording 22 points (9g, 13a), which were all career-highs. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of Dover, Massachusetts, currently tied for second in the Hockey East in game-winning goals with five and is sixth among defenseman with 22 points.

In his four-year career at UNH, Murray appeared in 112 games, notching 35 points (11g, 24a).

The Rivermen are in the middle of a six-game road trip, with the final four match-ups in the state of Texas. On Friday, March 30, Peoria takes on the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the Rivermen travel to San Antonio to face-off against the Rampage. Saturday's contest is at 7:00 p.m. and kicking off April, Peoria battles San Antonio again at 5:00 p.m. The Rivermen then finish off the Texas swing back in Houston on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:05 p.m. Peoria returns to Carver Arena Friday, April 6 versus the Aeros. It is Coca-Cola/Insight Date Night where t wo (2) upper bowl tickets, two (2) Cokes & a tub of popcorn is just $25; it is also Coyote Creek Golf Night in which the first 500 golfers will receive a golf ball. Claude Scott "the Happy Trumpeter" will also make an appearance. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
