Connecticut Whale News Release

Newark, NJ, February 3, 2010 - Brodie Dupont's second goal of the game, with 19.9 seconds left in overtime, gave the Hartford Wolf Pack a 3-2 win over the Lowell Devils Wednesday night, in a game played at the Prudential Center, home of Lowell's NHL affiliate, the New Jersey Devils.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Wolf Pack, who had also been winless in their previous five games (0-4-1-0). The overtime triumph was Hartford's AHL-best eighth of the season.

Lowell had tied the game at two with only 1:07 remaining in regulation, with their goaltender on the bench for an extra attacker, after Dupont had given the Pack a 2-1 lead with his first of the game on a power play at 12:16.

Matt Zaba made 37 saves in the Wolf Pack net to earn his fourth win of the season, and Jordan Owens had two assists.

On the winning play, Owens carried the puck into the Lowell zone on right wing and centered to Dupont, whose shot went off the glove of Devil goaltender Mike McKenna and into the net.

Lowell scored first in the game, with Tim Sestito notching a power-play goal at 16:19 of the first period. Sestito broke down left wing and put a shot into the top shelf over Zaba's shoulder.

The Wolf Pack were outshot 12-5 in the second frame, but scored the period's only goal. Derek Couture tied it for the Pack with his sixth of the season at 4:14. Couture drove up the middle towards the net and redirected in a centering feed by Owens from the left-wing boards.

Dupont's power-play goal in the third came with Lowell's Brad Snetsinger in the box for goaltender interference. Corey Locke played the puck across the goalmouth from the right-wing side, and Dupont deflected it just inside the post to McKenna's right.

Lowell's tying goal was scored by Nathan Perkovich, on a deflection of Cory Murphy's shot from the left point.

The Wolf Pack were outshot 39-28 in the game, but had three of the four shots credited in overtime. The win improved Hartford's record to 24-20-2-4 for 54 points and moved them two points ahead of Bridgeport for fifth place in the Atlantic Division.
