February 3, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves have teamed up with the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) for the second annual NIHL Wolves Cup, beginning this Saturday, February 6, at the Inwood Recreations Center in Joliet, Ill. The tournament will continue on Sun., Feb. 7, and conclude the following weekend, Sat., Feb. 13, and Sun., Feb. 14.

The tournament features more than 200 teams in 22 age divisions, ranging from Mites to Midgets (ages four to 18). The top four finishers from each age division will receive a Wolves Cup rink banner and individual player awards. Either the Wolves mascot, Skates, or former Wolves forward Steve Martins will present the banners to the championship teams from the Mites and Squirts divisions.

In addition, the Most Valuable Player from each of the 22 championship teams will be invited onto the ice to accept their team's Wolves Cup trophy during an intermission when the Wolves host the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, March 6.

"We are so grateful to have the Wolves as members of our NIHL family," said NIHL President Mike Glynn. "Whether it is on the ice, in the locker room or in the classroom, the Wolves are always there supporting our players. Everything from the official Chicago Wolves equipment bag tags and jersey patches, to the NIHL/Chicago Wolves Academic Excellence Program, we always feel a part of the team. The Wolves Cup is probably the most exciting and, without a doubt, the most memorable yearly tournament in all of youth sports. It's not just a hockey tournament, but a true celebration of our athletes, our teams, and their supporting families."
