River Rats Sign Yannick Tifu To PTO

ALBANY, NY-The Albany River Rats announced today the signing of forward Yannick Tifu to a professional tryout contract (PTO). Tifu is expected to be in the lineup tonight, when the River Rats host the Syracuse Crunch at 7:00 p.m.

Tifu, 25, has scored 44 points (13 goals, 31 assists) in 30 games this season with the Elmira Jackals of the East Coast Hockey League. The undrafted right wing has also played in six games with the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings this season. Last season Tifu (5'11", 185 lbs.) scored three goals and added 15 assists (18 points) in 37 games with the River Rats, and also totaled 33 points (six goals, 27 assists) in 24 ECHL contests with the Florida Everblades. The Brossard, QC., native is in his fifth professional campaign, and made his River Rats debut during the 2007-08 season, registering five points (two goals, three assists) in nine games with the club.

Albany hosts the Syracuse Crunch at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night at the Times Union Center.
