Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

??-Winterhawks defensemen Jack Dougherty and Caleb Jones ended January with matching four-game point streaks. Dougherty had 13 points in 13 games in the month, and has been averaging a point per game since returning from an injury on November 11. His 39 points this season tie him for sixth among all WHL rookies and he's 11th among defensemen in scoring. Jones is right behind him, with 38 points this season, placing him eighth among rookies and 12th among defensemen.

With Dougherty and Jones ranking so highly in both categories, the Winterhawks are the only team in the Western Conference with two teammates who rank among the top-15 in scoring among defensemen.

??-Another Hawks rookie has been hot of late, as Rodrigo Abols has points in three of his last four games. The Latvian is up to 30 points this season, 12th in the WHL. With Dougherty and Jones just ahead of him, the Winterhawks are the only team in the league with three players among the top-12 in rookie scoring.

??-Adin Hill had a strong month in net for the Hawks, making 39 saves in three of his last four games, and posting a goals against average of 2.71 and save percentage of .921. Those were his best marks since October, when he was the WHL Goalie of the Month.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

??-Friday's game against Seattle is the annual George Morlan Plumbing Supply Mascot Night, as team mascot Tom-a-Hawk is inviting his furry friends to join him at the game. The mascots will be entertaining fans on the concourse before the game, then heading down to the ice for a mascot hockey game during an intermission. Tickets are available at Winterhawks.com, ticketmaster.com, the Rose Quarter box office or the team's ticket office in Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
