
Royals Host Hitmen on Wednesday Night

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will aim for their sixth straight win when they host the Calgary Hitmen, for the only time this regular season, on Wednesday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Both teams are coming off a successful weekend that saw them collect victories against some of the top teams in the WHL. The Royals defeated the league leading Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-1 on Friday night and the second place Kelowna Rockets 4-1 on Saturday. The Hitmen beat the East Division's first and second place teams when they knocked off the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-3 and the Prince Albert Raiders 4-1.
JANUARY RECAP: In January Victoria earned an 8-3-1-1 record in 13 games, as the club outscored their opponents 51-29 during that span. Goaltenders Coleman Vollrath and Griffen Outhouse each collected four wins. Forwards Alex Forsberg (7g-11a) and Matthew Phillips (9g-9a) led the Royals in scoring with 18 points, while Tyler Soy scored a team high 12 goals.
RETURNING FACE: Wednesday's contest between Victoria and Calgary will mark the return of former Royals' defenceman Keegan Kanzig to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The 6'6", 245 lb blueliner spent parts of four seasons in Victoria and appeared in 217 regular season games. Kanzig collected 26 points (6g-20a) and 375 minutes in penalties during his time with the Royals, before being traded to the Hitmen in November of 2014.
WEDNESDAY
The Royals have partnered with the United Way for their "Raise the Red" campaign. United Way will be selling fleeces on the concourse with all proceeds going towards the campaign.
Ticketing:
The Royals play five games in February, and with every regular priced club seat sold during the month the team will donate $5 directly to the BC Cancer Foundation in support of the club's annual Pink in the Rink game on February 20th.
