GREENSBORO, NC - The Winston-Salem Dash fell in game one of a six game set against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 13-2, Tuesday night at First National Bank Field.

Winston-Salem (43-44) started fast, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With Jacob Burke standing on second base, Wilfred Veras drove in his team leading 60th RBI on a single to center giving the Dash the early advantage.

Greensboro (45-43) found an answer in the second. Will Matthiessen left the yard on a fly ball down the right field line tying the two at one.

In the sixth, Greensboro got to the Dash bullpen. The Grasshoppers took the lead on an RBI single by Jack Brannigan plating two, making it 3-2 Greensboro. Following the single, Greensboro plated a pair of runs on a single, a run on a ground-rule double, two more on an error, a single and a solo home run taking a 11-2 lead into the seventh. The home side added two more runs in the seventh and took game one, 13-2.

Despite the loss, Burke, Veras and Tim Elko all recorded multi-hit outings. With 61 RBI, Veras sits second in the South Atlantic League in the category.
