
Wings Stadium and Chamber Celebrates Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces it has teamed up with the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce to present Winterfest, Discovering Kalamazoo. Winterfest will take place this weekend January 24th-26th 2003.
Winterfest is a celebration of the city of Kalamazoo, and Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
On Friday January 24th 2003 at 7:30 PM the Kalamazoo Wings will host the top team in the UHL the Missouri River Otters. Susan Arnold of the Chamber will sing the National Anthem and will start the game between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Missouri River Otters by dropping the Ceremonial 1st puck. During the 1st intermission watch the Ice Kraze synchronized skating team perform. Following the game there will be a FREE Public Skate, free admission with game ticket stub, skate rental not included.
The activities will continue on Saturday, January 25th, before the game against the Muskegon Fury. At 5 PM outside of Wings Stadium there will be a Snow Sculpture Contest. Everyone is invited to participate. The fun will continue inside, as the Winner of the "Program Design Contest", 10-year-old Michael Sage II, will start the game by dropping the Ceremonial 1st puck. Following the game there will be a FREE Public Skate with the K-Wings and Slappy; free admission with game ticket stub, skate rental is not included.
The festivities will conclude on Sunday January 26th 2003, at 11:30 AM when the Kalamazoo Adult Hockey League All-Stars will face-off with a game and skills competition, jerseys are donated by Budweiser and Hockey Services. The day continues with the KOHA JV Travel Game at 12:30 PM. At 2:00 PM in the Annex, there will be a Free Public Skate, skate rental is not included. The weekend events will finish with the Southwest Michigan Skating Club and Kalamazoo Ice Kraze Skating Expo in the Wings Stadium at 3:00, free admission.
Stadium Management Company owns both the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team and the Wings Stadium Complex, which is comprised of three main buildings. Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is a smaller facility that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
