
Komets waive Duffus

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced today that they have placed goaltender Parris Duffus on waivers and added rookie goalie Cory Campbell to the team roster.
Duffus, who will be 33 Jan. 27, agreed to terms with the Komets Dec. 17, 2002, and appeared in 5 games posting a 3.47 goals against average and 3-1-0 record.
The Komets received Campbell from the Missouri River Otters in trade for cash.
Campbell, 21, appeared in 4 games with the River Otters starting his first pro game Dec. 22. Campbell also backstopped Missouri in games Dec. 28, Jan. 3 and Jan. 10 posting a 2-2-0 record and 3.28 goals against average. Before this season, the rookie netminder played 4 years in the Ontario Hockey League. Campbell appeared in stints with Belleville (1998-01), Guelph (2000-01), Sarnia (2000-02) and Windsor (2001-02). Campbell was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 3rd round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Campbell is expected to arrive in Fort Wayne today and will be in uniform when the Komets skate at Rockford Wednesday night at 8:05pm.
Komets to tangle with Jackals this weekend....the Komets will skate back-to-back home games against the Elmira Jackals this Friday and Saturday nights at the coliseum. Opening face off is 7:35 each night. It will be the 4th of 7 meetings this season between the 2 conference rivals. The Komets are 2-1-0 vs Elmira this season after clipping the Jackals 4-3 in a shootout win at Fort Wayne in the last meeting Dec. 14. Plenty of good seats still remain for this weekend's games.
