LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Wednesday, January 15 vs. Wheeling
WIN 5-1
GAME NOTES: The âGades jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead and cruised to their second straight win. Richmond out-shot the Nailers 38-24 and took only one minor penalty. Lars Pettersen and Nick Lent each had a goal and assist
Saturday, January 18 @ Roanoke
LOSS 8-3
GAME NOTES: The âGades rallied from a 4-0 second period deficit to cut the Roanoke lead to 4-3 on three straight goals by Jon Zion. Roanoke responded with four third period goals and finished the night with six power play scores. Richmond had 60 penalty minutes. Dan Carlson scored twice for Roanoke.
âGADES NOTES: The âGades have won three straight home games, outscoring the opposition 14-3. Richmond allowed six power play goals in Saturday's loss at Roanoke. That equals the second most in ECHL history but is not a club record. The âGades allowed an ECHL record seven vs. Hampton Roads in October, 1993. Jon Zion netted a natural hat trick in the second period Saturday. It was Zion's first pro hat trick and the club's fourth of the year. Lars Pettersen missed Saturday's game due to injury but is expected to play this week. Pettersen has 10 points in his last five games. The Renegades Marc Magliarditi now has 125 career ECHL wins, seventh best in league history. Magliarditi had a stretch of over 111 consecutive scoreless minutes end in the third period Wednesday. Jayme Filipowicz remains on re-call to St. John. Five âGades have played in the AHL this season. The âGades have not allowed a power play goal in their last six wins. They have allowed 16 power play goals in their last five losses. Richmond has lost their last three overtime/shootout decisions after winning their first seven. The eight goals surrendered at Roanoke is the most since a 9-2 loss at Cincinnati last January. Jon Zion, Jamie Herrington, and Dan Lombard will represent the âGades at the All Star Game Tuesday. Richmond is 0-10-2 in their last 12 games vs. Northeast Division opponents. The âGades fell from fifth in the league in penalty killing to 12th following the loss at Roanoke. Richmond took just one minor penalty for two minutes in the win over Wheeling, then had a season high 60 PIM in the loss at Roanoke. The âGades are fourth in the ECHL in fewest shots allowed and tied four fourth in shorthanded goals with 10. Jon Zion and Brad Church have points in three straight games.
